| An extremely rare Neolithic period Yangshao Culture Banpo type painted boat jar. Of boat form with a chimney-like structure and an opening at centre, two loops, two small openings on both ends, body painted with fish net pattern in black. Only one other recorded similar Yangshao unburnished boat jar is in a museum in Shaanxi now. An extremely rare and precious artifact. It comes from the world's most important Neolithic pottery collections formed by a highly discerning connoisseur and successful businessman in Hong Kong through a few decades since the 1960's. This collection will soon be exposed in a series of unprecedented exhibition world tours with the culmination of an auction sale which would probably stun the world. Date: Neolithic period, Yangshao Culture (4000BC – 3000BC); Width: 25.5cm; Condition: perfect but surface covered with calcium carbonate formed after excavation. | |||||
