OXFORD TESTED IMPRESSIVE WARRING STATES GREY POTTERY HU
A very rare and impressive Warring States grey pottery fanghu jar. Stoutly and perfectly potted, surface completely decorated with carved decorations, such as a band of palm leaves on the neck and stylized patterns on body and foot, further applied with four superbly carved beast mask handles on the four sides, surface completely burnished smooth. It was TL tested by Oxford Authentication and determined to be from the Warring States period. The sample number is C100p96. Please email Oxford to confirm if they did this test. It has an excellent provenance of being from the renowned E & J Frankel Collection, New York. There are many very fine and rare Warring States and Han ceramics in the E & J Frankel collection. Large decorated Warring States grey pottery items imitating imperial bronzes are extremely rare and valuable. A very rare museum quality item. Date: Han dynasty; Height: 52.5cm; Width: 29cm; Conditions: excellent, minor surface wear and soil stains.
