FINE LARGE QING C18 BRONZE CENSER, WU BANGZUO MARK
A very fine large early 18th century bronze censer. Of attractive compressed form supported on three short feet with rounded tip, the handles are of superbly-modelled bridge-form, heavily casted of a fine and dense bronze of purplish brown tone, thick old patina, casted on the base with a 16 characters mark 'Daming Xuande wunian jiandu gongbu guanchen Wu Bangzuo zao' which means 'Made by Wu Bangzuo, the Director of the Imperial Workshop, in the fifth year of the Ming Xuande reign'. Date: early 18th century; Width: 16.5cm; Conditions: excellent with minor metal corrosion inside.
