Kwan Yin is sited in dhyanasana on the throne and wearing elaborated loose-fitting robes and a Chinese –style head dress with cowl over the top-knot with mandorla. Guan Yin is the bodhisattva of compassion, revered by Buddhists as the Goddess of Mercy. Her name is short for Guan Shi Yin.
