Antique 19th century English Percussion travelling pistol by John Evans Carmarthen. Details: Twist octagonal barrel with very large bore signed in full with silver fore-sight engraved lock and trigger-guard bag-shaped chequered walnut butt. The overall length is 22.2 cm (8 6/8 in) Condition: The spring is present but the action is not working properly only by pushing the trigger forward the hammer cocks, missing ramrod, some minor pitting.

African chieftain's ceremonial trident made of several elements of iron and highly decorated, circa 19th century. The trident originally was mounted on a wooden pole and had not only functioned as a weapon but also as a symbol of rank. Condition: one side was cleaned from rust; the other side is still very rusty. Height: 18 ½ inches (47cm).

DETAILS: made of hollowed–out horn of Bison /Buffalo with oval wood base secured with small brass pins.
CONDITION: overall in fine condition with smooth toned black – grey surfaces and rounded turned mouth and the stopper, retains an untouched lovely age patina.
MEASUREMENTS: overall length: 25,5 cm (10 inches).

This bronze medal commemorating the Vienna World Exposition of 1873 was made by Karl Schwenzer (1843-1904) and Josef Tautenhayn (1868-1962). Material: bronze. Dimensions: 71mm x 5 mm. It was awarded to James Hector for his services to the Exposition. The obverse side shows a portrait bust of Emperor Franz Josef I with the text 'FRANZ JOSEF I KAISER VON OESTERREICH KOENIG VON BOEHMEN ETC APOST KOENIG VON UNGARN' (Franz Joseph I Emperor of Austria King of Bohemia etc., Apostolic King of Hungary).
The reverse side shows an allegorical scene depicting a woman with a cornucopia handing a laurel wreath to a seated woman holding a distaff; between them is a man standing at an anvil holding a hammer and laurel wreath. The inscription reads 'WELTAUSSTELLUNG 1873 WIEN / DEN VERDIENSTE' (World Exposition Vienna 1873 / For Services).
REFERENCES: The Vienna World Exposition of 1873 was the first to be held in a German-speaking country. Modeled on the Great Exhibition held at Crystal Palace, London, in 1851, and subsequent events in London in 1862 and Paris, the Vienna World Exposition was intended to show to the world the industrial and cultural progress of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and its rapidly expanding and modernizing capital city.
