| This is a circa 1940's, a small miniature framed watercolor and Ink drawing of Taxco Mexico on heavy paper, artist signed. An evening street scene looking up at Santa Prisa Cathedral with a tiny blue moon above. This has an ethereal quality about this Artists work that is unusual and brooding, an El Greco feeling. Artist signed in the lower right corner TAXCO.. M. Garcia M. . I have taken this painting apart for verification and have replaced the original backing as it was purchased, the painting is on heavy paper and is in excellent condition. The colors are more vibrant than my pictures show, the paper is toned but not quite as darkly as shown. The framing is with a thin wooden frame which has some scrapes but is structurally sound. SIZE: framed 8-1/2" x 4-1/4" .....the scene is 4-1/4" x 2-1/4". The framing was done in Corpus Christi Texas late 40's or early 50's. Framers label is still attached. I believe that this was purchased from an Artist in Taxco in the late 40's. The painting is one of a group of 4 individual paintings all by the same artist, same size and subject that I am offering for sale. I have no absolute information on the artist although there was a Silver Jewelry designer with the same initials who working in Taxco for Rancho Allegre circa 1956, Miguel Garcia Martinez, the appraiser for the Estate felt that these paintings were possibly his early work. While this is an interesting attribution, and the initials and middle name are the same, at present I have been unable to conclusively confirm this. | ||||||||||||
