A small bowl, under glaze blue decorated on the outside with two phoenix in flight amongst clouds; on the inside a single phoenix within a double ring and on the base is the six character mark of the Guangxu emperor. This item was made within his reign (1875 - 1908). Condition - excellent - no damages and no restoration. 1.5 inches (3.8cm) high, 2.6 inches (6.5cm) diameter.

A small Chinese saucer dish decorated with "famille rose" enamels depicting figures in a rural setting made - circa 1750 during the reign of the Qianlong emperor. Condition - there are a few tiny rim frits and three hairline cracks - the largest 1.2 inches (3cm) long. No restoration. 4.6 inches (11.8cm) diameter.

A carved soapstone immortal with a separately carved base, probably made for export circa 1880 - 1920. Condition - good overall - there are a number of small chips - most noticabley to the nose and the left of the lower foot; no repairs and no restoration. 9.5 inches (24cm) high.

A good lacquered bamboo brushpot,depicting Shoulao and his deer, delicately painted in a style more commonly seen on large gilt decorated blue glazed vases that are attributed to the late Qianlong/Jiaqing reigns . The inscription reads : "Imitated at (?) Tai Zhengya's Calligraphy Studio of Elegant Living, for his comments". Condition is good - one age related crack and a little wear to the gilding. No further damages/losses. 5.25 inches (13.4cm) High.

A large well decorated Chinese vase painted with "famille rose" enamels depicting the eight daoist immortals and made during the reign of the Yongzheng emperor ( 1723 to 1736). Condition - this item has been broken into pieces and has good old restoration which is now discoloured in places. Height 14 inches (36cm).

SOLD NOV 2008 

A rare 18th Century enamelled bowl decorated with twelve cranes standing and in flight against a pale blue ground and with pine branches, lingzhi fungus and rockwork. The base carries the under glaze blue seal mark of the Qianlong emperor and this item was made during his reign (1736 - 1795). For an item with identical under glaze blue borders, and with a reign mark drawn by the same hand, please visit the Woolley & Wallis site on line and view the Asian Art Sale 22 May 2007 - Lot 628. Condition - excellent - no damages. 5.6 inches (14.2 cm) diameter, 2.75 inches (7cm) high.

A large Japanese stoneware koro (incense burner), decorated with coloured enamels on a celadon glazed ground, depicting mythical beings. The cover is surmounted by a Shishi. This item was made circa 1880 - 1920 during either the Meiji or Taisho periods. Condition - two of the three legs have been restored. 10.25 inches (26cm) high, 9 inches (23cm) across.
