A pale yellow double gourd vase with under glaze white enamel decoration painted on each side with two birds on flowering prunus branches. The base carries the four character mark "Jingdezhen Zhi" (made in Jingdezhen). This item was made in the second quarter of the 20th Century during the Republic period (1911-1949). Condition - there is a light 0.7cm (0.3inch) hairline to the rim (please view enlargements 8 and 9); no further damages and no restoration. 16.5cm (6.5inches) high.

A well potted bowl in Qianjiang style painted with a traditional landscape and accompanying descriptive poem "Hu Guang Shan Si" which translates directly as "Lake Light Mountain Colour". The four character mark on the base reads "Made in Jiang Xi". This item was made in China during the Min Guo (Republic) period
(1912-1949). Condition - excellent - no damages and no restoration. 5.6cm (2.25inches) high; 11cm (4.3 inches) diameter.

A set of four wine cups individually painted in traditional Chinese landscape style and each bearing the verse "Xin Kuan Wang Di Zhia" which translates directly as "Heart Broad Forget Ground Narrow". The bases carry the iron red four character reign mark of the Hongxian 'emperor' (1916) but these items were probably made later, during the Republic Period, circa 1917-1949. Condition - excellent - no damages and no restoration. 4.5cm (1.75 inches) high; 6.3cm (2.3 inches) diameter.

A rare, finely carved, coconut bow, with silver liner, bearing the carved, malachite inlaid inscription - "De Fen Cang Sheng" - which can translate - "High Moral Standards Stimulate People". The silver is stamped with the shop mark "Bao Sheng Xiang" which was established by Ding Wan-Yu. The following is a transation from an article on the Chinese internet: "Ding Wan-Yu, was a well-known coconut carving artist in Hainan, the southmost province in China. In 1921, he opened an art & craft shop called Bao Sheng Xiang, on Zhongshan Road, Haikou City, selling the famous Hainan Coconut carving and his own artwork, and at the same time fixing clocks and watches. At the time, new roads were built in Haikou City, and on one of the roads - Changdi Road there was a bell tower, on which the big clock facing four directions was designed and installed by Ding Wan-Yi on the request of the Head of Haikou Chamber of Commerce. Dings finely-carved coconut objects, such as Hainan Xiangshan Mount, Shou(longivity), Xi(happiness) and landscape and figures, were selected, stored and exhibited in Beijing Palace Museum. In 1928 and 1933, he was invited by Mr Zhong Jin-Quan, the Consulate of Haikou Chamber of Commerce in France, to go to French Annam (now Central Vietnam) to exhibit and sell at the International Exhibition. In 1929, he attended the China Domestic Goods Exhibition in Shanghai, and other exhibitions in Qiongshan County, Haikou City and other places and was highly praised. He was awarded Silver Medals and Certificates from the French International Exhibition and by Mr Kong Xiang-Xi, the Head of Commercial Ministry in the Repulic of China . His work was also selected by government departments as gifts to important politicians and millitary officers such as Sun Zhong-Shan and Li Zong-Ren. Since then, Hainan coconut carving is not only famous in China, but also globally." Condition - very good - no losses and no restoration. 5cm (2 inches) high; 12.5cm (4.9 inches) diameter.

A rare Cultural Revolution era wood carving depicting a girl dancer holding a lantern, probably from a People's Liberation Army Ballet or possibly from a Beijing Opera performance of the same period, circa 1966-1976. Condition - the lantern handle has been broken and there is a piece missing; no further damage and no restoration. 21.5cm (8.5 inches) high.
