GBP 450 Pair 

A rare pair of Rambervillers Ceramique stoneware vases with characteristic thick metallic lustre glaze and mounted on fitted gilt bronze stands. These items were probably made shorly after the establishment of the Rambervillers pottery, circa 1905-1910, and bear the incised signature of its founder Alphonse Cytere. Condition: excellent - no damages and no repairs or restoration. 26cm (10.25 inches) high.

A rare carved hardwood plaque depicting a heavily tattooed Maori figure with top-knot and holding a Mere (traditional short club); the eyes are inset with Paua (abalone) shells. This item was acquired with the large mask (item #201 in our catalogue) and is signed with the same initials. An "ogee" shaped porcelain bowl decorated with polychrome 'famille rose' enamels depicting two pheasants amongst flowering peony and pomegranate branches and below a band of alternating lotus flowers and the eight Buddhist emblems, the Bajixiang. The seal mark to the base reads "Zhong Hua Min Guo" (Republic of China), dating it to the period 1911-1949. Condition: there are rim frits / chips and there is a light 1cm hairline to the rim ; no further damages and no restoration. 14cm (5.5inches) diameter; 5.9cm (2.3inches) high. A rare flesh pink glazed earthenware Art Nouveau style vase painted with Narcissus flowers in green, white and yellow enamels. This item was made, circa 1895, by the Riessner Stellmacher and Kessler "Amphora" factory in the Bohemian village of Trnovany. A very rare Afriacan style "Crucifiction" form bronze sculpture by post-war Liverpool Artist Arthur Dooley (1929-1994) and probably made during the 1960s. We are not aware of any other bronzes in this form by the Artist. We have a Certificate of Authenticity for this item which is co-signed by the Arthur Dooley Estate and the Official Arthur Dooley Archive. Condition: Excellent. A small delicately potted and finely enamelled and gilded Zisha clay stoneware teapot made in Yixing, Zhejiang province, China during the Qing dynasty (1644-1911).
The seal mark to the base reads "hui meng chen zhi" - "made by Hui Meng Chen" (a famous late Ming dynasty Yixing potter). The mark to the base of the cups reads "kang xi nian ji" - "made during the reign of the Kangxi emperor" (1662-1722).
Condition: excellent with no sign of use. There is a small firing crack to the mark on the base of the teapot and there are two very small chips to one of the bowls; no further damages and no restoration.
Teapot: 11cm (4.3inches) long; 6.5cm (2.5inches) high.
Cups: 2.4cm (0.95inches) high; 4.8cm (1.9inches) diameter.

描金点彩红泥小茶壶配四茶碗一套,胎薄小巧,做工精细。茶壶单孔流口。产自浙江宜兴,清代所作。
茶壶底部有惠孟臣制字样,茶碗上有圆形双圈康熙年制字样。
品相:完好,全新,未使用过。茶壶外底表面有一处裂痕,但不穿透壶壁(即茶壶无漏水问题);其中一只茶碗有两处小磕。无其他损伤或修复。
茶壶长11厘米,高6.5厘米。
茶碗高2.4厘米,直径4.8厘米。

A very finely cast pair of bronze vases with lion mask handles and bird and flower decoration and a Chinese Yuan dynasty style background. These vases were made in Japan, for export, during the Meiji period (1868-1911). Condition: there are cracks to the rim on one vase and there is a replacement base to the other.

Weight: each vase approx. 1.2kg (2lb11oz).
