19/20C Famille Rose Jardiniere Guangxu Reign 1875-1908
A Jardiniere (plant holder) painted on the outside with Fencai (Famille Rose) enamels depicting a ceremony with a family in front of an alter. On the table is a censer (incense burner) flanked by two candle holders. At the centre is a boy (the son), the men and ladies are standing formally on opposite sides. This item was made in China, probably for the domestic market, during the reign of the Guangxu emperor (1875-1908). Condition - very good - there are glaze only cracks radiating from the central aperture on the base, no further damages and no restoration. 17.5cm (6.9 inches) high; 26.5cm (10.4inches) diameter. Weight 3.4kg (7lbs 8oz).
