Fine 18C Bajixiang Alter Vase Qianlong Mark & Period
A small, very delicately enameled ruby ground Imperial alter vase, Gu, with trumpet-shaped neck on bell-shaped foot, decorated with the eight buddhist emblems - Ba jixiang - amongst styalised lotus scrolls and interspersed between key-fret and ruyi borders. The interior and base are glazed turquoise. On one of the central bands is inscribed the six character iron red seal mark of the Qianlong emperor and this item was made within his reign (1736-1795). Condition - there is a 1cm wide area of enamel loss (please see enlargement 10). The gilding to the rim is worn and there are minor losses to the turquoise glaze inside the rim. There are no cracks and there has been no restoration. 16cm (6.25 inches) high.
