English ~ STERLING & ENAMEL ~ Place Card PHEASANT 1909
A figural sterling and enamel Place Card Holder in the form of a Pheasant on pedestal. In reality, a miniature sculpture, the bird is rendered fully in the round and the center shaft of the pedestal is worked in rich green basse taille enamel work. Fully hallmarked for Sterling Silver standard, city of London, year 1909/10 and with the maker's mark of William Edward Hurcomb, registered as a gold worker in 1900. It measures a full 2 inches in height, 1 1/4 inches in width and aside from a couple of tiny chips to the enameling that are unseen behind the place card support, it is in excellent condition.
