| A super modernist sterling pin by mid-century modernist artist/jeweler Maxwell Chayat (1909-1982). Chayat was based in New Jersey and renowned for his Judaica and ceremonial objects which grace several temples in the New York / New Jersey area. A well regarded sculptor, as well as silversmith, Chayat had a number of one-man shows and exhibited at the Smithsonian Institute, Cooper Union, Montclair Museum, Highgate Gallery, Artist Equity Gallery, Philadelphia Art Alliance, Denver Art Museum, and Jewish Museum in New York. He is also written about and a number of his pieces are illustrated in Modernist Jewelry 1930 - 1960 by Marbeth Schon. This pin is an abstract construction of wire, bead and sheet silver and is a stylized flower design. It measures a full 2 1/2 inches in length and is signed on the reverse - Chayat Sterling. Great example and in excellent condition. | ||
