Double face weave with the opposite side having the colors in reverse. The ancient people raised over 20 different shades of cotton from white, gray to brown as they were not able to dye cotton unlike the alpaca wool. Dimensions: 21 x 18 inches. Condition: Very good, professionally mounted on a stretcher. Chile, Arica, San Miguel Phase, 1100-1200 AD

Gauze fabrics consists of overtwisted cotton yarn, and were made by using a frame completely covered with "scaffold" wefts which could be removed later. The intermittent weaves, in which the warp threads. Cotton gauzes were known as witches veils and covered the heads of shamans and witches in the present and the after life.
