Currently at auction, please click on the Auction Link to view the listing. An early painting by the Chinese American artist Dominic Toming Cheng whose studio is in Miami, Florida. The photograph of the label that is on the reverse gives his history and education and also describes the method of painting that he developed, acrylic on silver foil. His works are represented in many private and corporate collections. The authenticity of this painting is guaranteed. My photographs do not do this painting justice - it was very difficult to photograph. In real life it is much less reflective and the colors have much more life and depth. I do not know what he titled this work originally but I call it "The Ghost Horse" as the horse, especially the right side, fades in and out as you walk by the painting - it is an incredible effect that is subtly dramatic! The painting is of a Mongolian riding on horseback with a double gourd hanging from a stick carried over his shoulder. The balance of color is superb. The most accurate representation of the painting is in the two photographs that show the lower left and lower right corners of the painting. I am serious when I say that my photographs do not do this painting justice - my photography skills are minimal and I am unable to capture the true image of this unique painting. You will NOT be disappointed with it! The painting site size measures 23 1/4"" by 17 1/4" and with the original frame it measures 32" by 26". The painting is in excellent condition and displays well, though it may need to be cleaned. The original frame is in good condition as well though there is some spotting around it where the patinated effect is worn or missing. It is much more apparent in the photos that it is in person. It should be a simple restoration if desired. Don't pass up this opportunity to add a wonderful piece of original art to your collection. |
