This is an extremely rare enamelled terracotta figural pipe represent the allegory of the "Death" as a winged skeleton with scythe and human skulls on feet. Original or vintage twisted wood stem. Very fine french work signed J. Gambier and numbered 845 dating from the second part of the 19th century. Dimensions: clay pipe 2.9in (7.3cm) high by 2in (5cm) large, stem 18.7in (47.5cm) long.
