Antique Tibetan Silver Butter Lamp
The butter lamps help to focus the mind and aid meditation. Offering of light are thought to create great merit. Butter lamps are the traditional Tibetan way of making this offering. This beautiful Tibetan silver butter lamp was handcrafted with engraving and repousse, from the 18-19th century. It has been left unpolished with good patina, though there is nothing to prevent its being shined.

It is in good condition. Size: 5 3/4" tall.

Provenance: from the Pooley collection, Rockford, IL.

Reference: A similar Tibetan butter lamp from the 18-19th century in The British Museum collection.
