This is an extremely rare Ming Dynasty ( Late Ming earlt Qing ,16th-17th C.) set of 3 Bronze Figures consisting of one Guandi or Quan Cong or Quan Au (or Wen Chang) the Red-Face God (He was born with the red face) and two attendants. Guandi is known as the God of Honesty, the God of Literature, or the God of Warrior, depending on how he was dressed, but most of the Chinese people worship him as the God of Honesty. The attendant who holds a box (Official Seal) is known as Quang Peng and the other who is armed is known as Jieu Chang (the original arm is missing and replaced by a replica).
It is very seldom to find a complete set of these three statues. The fact that they were cast in great detail makes them even more valuable.
This set of statues originally belonged to
a wealthy family in Vietnam. During the war, they were buried in order to protect them from being taken away or stolen. After the war, they were bought up and some minor damage were found.(Please see picture). However, the overall beauty is still presented.
Guandi Size: 57 cm. X 30 cm.
The attendants Sizes: 44 cm. X 15 cm.
Total weight Approx. 31 Kg.
