This is a very nice Ewer of the late Ly - Early Tran dynasty, 13th - 14th century. This is an Ewer with lobed body, spiral-decorated spout,decorative handle,low footing,wavy-edged lotus-leaf cover, yellow green glaze. Please note : the cover is only placed on top of the mouth of the Ewer, it is not firmly attached to the Ewer, it has to be removed before pouring. The purpose of the cover would have served to prevent insects and debris from falling into the Ewer. ( This was explained in photo # 12 PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EWER IS SIMILAR TO THE ONE IN THE VIETNAMESE CERAMICS BOOK. ( PHOTO 12 ). Time : Late Ly - early Tran dynasty, 13th-14th century.
