The stands are 13 1/4 x 12 3/4 x 2 inches in size. They are part of the Chase Gilmore estate (He owned the World of Art gallery in Chicago). They are each made from a solid block of wood and would be able to take a considerable weight. They are in very good condition as you can see from the photographs.
From research that I have done I would date these to the Ming Dynasty. On one figure the cavity on the back of the head is still sealed. A long paper filled with detailed calligraphy was with these when I purchased them. From the look of the paper it was originally in one of the cavities. These figures are particularly interesting do to their size and rank badges and the fact that they have stayed together for such a long period of time.
