This is a fabulous Umbrella stand made by Franz Anton Mehlem between 1875 - 1890 in Bonn Germany. This is from the most collectable period for this type of pottery. The model name according to the back stamp is Jasmin. The flowers on the stand look somewhat like the Hellebore. Size: 19 1/4 by 9 7/8 inches. Condition: Overall excellent for the size and age of this item. There is a small shallow 3/8 inch chip on the middle of the bottom ring where this meets the floor. The detail on the metal work on lamp is amazing as the pictures show. Its made of at least three different metals, bronze, copper and a mixture of both. Even the copper bands are bent to give strength and design. A dragon is on one side of the body and a Phoenix on the other, both are important Chinese symbols. In my research I have not been able to find anything similar to this lamp. My best guess at a date would be Qing Dynasty. It is in very good condition, no chips or cracks other then t ...click for details

This is a genuine Victorian era Chinese export silver ships bosun's whistle. It is stamped "SILVER DRAGON". The chain is triple plated silver and it looks as though it could be original to the whistle but there is no way to tell for sure. This is how I found it, I will leave it up to the purchaser to polish it, if this is desired. It shows signs of its age, the ball is dented and there are some slight scratches but this is the real thing. It is 5 & 5/8 inches long. Shippi ...click for details
By the workmanship and design I would date this to between 1850 - 1900. It is an unusual shape and size a bit like a modern deep dish Pizza pan. Very detailed design as you can see in the pictures. The folding screen on the left side is fabulous. The inside bottom of the dish is very wavy and uneven from when it was made. Part of the inside pattern is repeated in a larger scale on the reverse side. There are some slight scratches on the bottom of the inside from when this was used in the past ...click for details
Unlike most Junyao items this one shows very clear evidence of having been dug. This lends it the quality of being totally unique and profoundly interesting. It is particularly deep with an exceptional multi-hued purple splash. The colors of the body cover a wide range, truly exquisite. Please ask for more pictures if desired. It dates to the Yuan dynasty (1279 to 1368 AD). As you can see the glaze is crackled. There are no chips, cracks or other damage other than the glaze crazing. Size ...click for details
This is a beautiful well executed One-Hundred Boys jar with original intricately carved rosewood stand. There is no makes mark but there is a good possibly that this was made in a workshop based in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi, China about the time stated in the title. It is decorated with the motif of one-hundred boys engaging in activities; mountains, trees, and houses serve as supporting visual details to enclose each scene. This follows typical Tongzhi iconography. The jar is 24 cm. high and 22 cm ...click for details
A large late 19th to early 20th century Chinese mudman with a walking stick and hat. Early dark clay, hollow and not marked. Unusual in that he is very emaciated (thin face and ribs sticking out over the top of his robe). Has no repairs, chips or cracking but it does look like the hat has been painted over. As always please ask for more pictures if desired. Height:14-1/4".
