Large cloisonne censer two Parrots on branch
This is a fabulous Chinese antique figural incense burner. It stands about 17 1/2 inches tall with the stand and about 20 inches wide at the widest point. The total weight is right around 8 lbs. The birds are each just over 15 inches long. The wings come off to revel the hollow bodies of the birds. It was obviously made to be a censer for burning incense. By the size it could have been used in a temple. The stand is almost 12 1/2 inches high at the highest point. The stand shows some areas of wax replacement as one picture shows. As to condition three of the original brass pins used to hold the parrots onto the stand are missing, one remains a bolt has been used hold the other bird on. There is a 5mm piece of the cloisonné chipped out of the neck of one of the birds, this is hidden when the wing is on. I have included a picture of this. Another of the pictures shows some lesser damage to the end of one of the stands branches. Other then that the stand and birds are in very good condition.
