Wooden sclupture Saijiki-Oni(demon) of Almanac "A lion dance"
Saijiki is a kind of Japanese Almanac, but name of this article has two meaning. In the word "ki" from "Saijiki" there is a play on words, with ki meaning both "record" and "Japanese demon" The article is made from a single block of wood. Using different chisels, the item was carved delicately in detail. Surface of the article is colored with natural dye lightly, and the grain of the wood is not painted over intently to remain feeling of fine material. The gold color made in Kindei(paint including gold) accents the article. The year of production: 2008 *Boxwood is high-quality wood, it have been used as comb and ornamental hairpin in Japan. It is the wood containing oil, so color of the boxwood item changes to beautiful amber patina due to the passage of time. *Regarding property of wooden sculpture Biography of Tokihiko Ishikawa Born in 1958 in Tokyo, Japan. The artist, Tokihiko Ishikawa has experienced restorations of traditional statues for a long time.
