Japanese Yogi, Kimono Shape Futon Bed Cover, Katazome
Very attractive Japanese Yogi (bed comforter) with a pattern of chrysanthemums and scrolling vine, dyed in Katazome stencil dye with rice paste resist (not wax dye) on cotton (applied on both sides of fabric). It is made out of light, good quality cotton. The condition is one of the best among yogi; never been washed but still very clean. When the cotton wadding was taken out, the seam (center of the liner inside) was left open. This will be left open in case you want to add fresh wadding - adding to both ends of the sleeves, color and the bottom may improve/change the look. There is a cut (1"-1.5") in the lower blue cotton. This is not one of the huge yogis but it is still quite large. Circa 1930-1950. Approx. 62" wide x 67" long.
