Qing dynasty, 18th century 7 x 4 5/8 x 2 3/8 in (17.8 x 11.7 x 6 cm) This very interesting zitan box has a finely inlaid cover with a crane about to take flight, while perched on a pine tree and looking towards the red sun. The crane is done mostly of mother-of-pearl; the pine tree with a boxwood inlay, and the pine needles and the sun with stained soapstone.
