A violin-shaped cartel in gilded and chiseled bronze adorned with flowers, waves and volutes. The white enameled dial with Roman numerals is surmounted by a putto holding a compass and a sundial. Flare and quiver bas-relief beneath the dial. With the Louis XV style, largely imitated in the second half of the nineteenth century, the bronze decoration takes its full extent. Some objects are only adorned with a stunning symphony of rococo patterns that intersect and overlap. Foliage and flowers are involved in this movement full of vitality and yet perfectly balanced. Original movement in working condition. Bibliography: Pierre Kjellberg, Encyclopédie de la pendule française du Moyen Age au XIXe siècle, Paris, Les Editions de l’Amateur, 1997, pp. 82, 465.

A gilded and chiseled jewel box with its key, surmounted by a child seated and holding his dog in his arms. The cambered lid is decorated with enameled garlands of flowers and turquoise porcelain. The casket is punctuated by small figures in niches, dressed in the style of the seventeenth century. Garlands of flowers in gilded bronze are set around the edge of the box which itself is carved with floral motifs. Signed TAHAN in Paris. The origin of the Tahan Company dates back to the early nineteenth century, in Belgium, when Pierre Lambert Tahan founded a workshop producing various objects based on Spa wood. Shortly before 1806, he decides to leave Spa for Paris, where he worked as cabinet-maker. In 1825, Pierre Lambert and his son, Jean Pierre Alexandre (1813-1892), are at the head of two factories, producing the same types of objects. In 1844, Pierre Lambert Tahan ceased his activities leaving the direction of his shop to his son who will completely revolutionize the company's organization by separating factory and store, located at 32 Rue de la Paix. A year later, it is already known as "Supplier of the King and Princes," and in 1855 he holds the title of "Supplier of the Emperor." The Court shall pass a large amount of commands for libraries and pedestal tables. Moreover, Pierre Alexandre Tahan participated at the greatest World Exhibitions of his time. After the fall of the Empire, it is difficult to dissociate the Tahan House from the figure of the Emperor. In 1882, the company ceased its production and the store closed its doors.

Famous representation of the two sculptures representing "Les Chevaux de Marly" with a horse rearing and groom trying to control it. Resting on a Siena marble base and a patinated and chiseled bronze base. The Marly Horses are two sculpted groups representing rearing horses and their grooms. The original in Carrara marble, executed between 1743 and 1745 by Guillaume Coustou are now in the Louvre. They were commissioned by Louis XV to decorate the watering place located at the entrance of the castle of Marly. In 1794 they were transferred Place de la Concorde. In 1984, partly due to the fact that the parade of armored vehicles of July 14 was fragilizing them, they were replaced by concrete copies. Latest works of Guillaume Coustou, the Marly Horses had a great success (with reduced scale replicas) and announced the popularity of the Romantic artists for equestrian subjects, such as Théodore Géricault.
