A small wall gilded bronze cartel in rococo Louis XV style. The white enamel dial has Roman and Arabic numbers, and pierced hands. The bronze allows artisans, working during the reign of Louis XV, to show the greatest imagination, by combining different rococo patterns and by favoring the movement in their compositions. The reign of Louis XV is the one of imagination, fancy, movement, primacy of decor on the form, of the curved on the straight line. It is the omnipresence of rococo patterns which blend flora and fauna.
This Napoleon III cartel reproduces the finesse of the carving of the pieces in bronze under the reign of Louis XV as long as its rococo ornamental repertoire.

A beautiful and imposing portico mantle clock in gilded bronze, composed of four columns decorated with a continuous frieze in bas-reliefs, spirally wound to the top, and decorated with sphinxes and foliage. The columns rest on a rectangular base. This clock kept its beautiful original mercury gilding.

Une très belle et imposante pendule portique en bronze doré, composé de quatre colonnes décorées d'une frise continue en bas-reliefs, enroulée en spirale jusqu'au sommet, et décorée de sphinges et rinceaux. Les colonnes reposent sur une base rectangulaire et supportent un entablement. Un important et beau balancier occupe l'espace entre les colonnes. Cette pendule a conservé sa magnifique dorure au mercure d'origine.

A Louis XV style mantle clock in gilded and chiseled bronze. This rococo style clock is nicely decorated with foliage and is topped with a Love holding a sundial and decorated under the enameled dial of a quiver of arrows and a torch. The ormolu or gilt bronze had in the 18th century an extraordinary development which found its origin under the reign of Louis XIV, with the installation of a foundry for Domenico Cucci at the Gobelins. Bronze allows artisans, under Louis XV, to show the greatest imagination and adapt the new rococo style. The first part of the reign of Louis XV is marked by the new importance of the ornament which lead to the rococo style. The term rocaille found its origine in the mineral world and indicate small stones, rocks and piece of glass of irregular form. Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier (1695-1750) is the first one to use the term rocaille to define patterns inspired of shells of irregular forms or asymmetrical. Once introduced in the interior decoration the shell knew an exceptionnal development. The infatuation for the shells and the minerals are part of general interest for natural history. Rocaille and shells are the basic elements of decoration but also we note the presence of elements from the vegetable, floral and mineral world, sometimes stylized as the leaves and foliage in the friezes, sometimes realistic as laurel or oaks branches, they reflect the predominance of nature as a model. This Napoleon III clock use the rococo style popular under the reign of Louis XV.

Pendule en bronze doré de style rocaille décorée d'éléments floraux et végétales.
Le bronze doré a connu au XVIIIème siècle un développement extraordinaire qui trouve son origine sous le règne de Louis XIV, dans l'installation d'une fonderie pour Domenico Cucci à la manufacture des Gobelins. Le bronze permet aux artisans, sous Louis XV, de faire preuve de la plus grande fantaisie et d'adapter le nouveau style rocaille.
La première période du règne de Louis XV est marquée par la montée en puissance de l'ornement qui aboutit au style rococo ou rocaille.
Le terme rocaille trouve son origine dans le monde minéral et désigne des petites pierres, rochers et morceaux de verres d'une forme irrégulière. Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier (1695-1750) est le premier à employer le terme rocaille pour définir des motifs inspirés de coquilles de forme irrégulière ou asymétrique. Une fois introduite dans la décoration intérieure la coquille va connaître un développement exceptionnel. L'engouement pour les coquilles et les minéraux faisait partie de l'intérêt plus général pour l'histoire naturelle. La rocaille et les coquillages sont les éléments de base de la décoration mais on constate aussi la présence d'éléments tirés du monde végétal, floral et minéral, parfois stylisés, comme les feuillages et rinceaux dans les frises, parfois réalistes comme les branches de lauriers ou de chênes, ils témoignent de la prépondérance de la nature comme modèle.
Cette pendule Napoléon III reprend le style rocaille en vogue sous Louis XV.

A rocaille ormolu clock finely chiseled, with a nice waving movement of interlaced foliage and shells, surmounted by a patinated bronze putti sitting on a cloud and holding a bow and an arrow in his hands. The gilt bronze dial shows roman numbers painted on porcelain.

An ormolu clock finely chiseled, surmounted by an allegory of Love. Cupid standing behind a young female figure in drapery writing "On t'aime et on te fuit". The mechanism between four columns is richly decorated with laurel, an ewer and a flaming tripod. The rectangular base is ornate with a frieze representing a putto playing with three musicians.

Une jeune femme assise, vêtue à l'antique, écrit sous le regard d'un amour ailé, la maxime "On t'aime et l'on te fuit". Mouvement inscrit entre quatre colonnes ornées de tresses de laurier et encadrées d'une verseuse amphore et d'une athènienne. Cadran émaillé blanc signé Destigny à Rouen. Socle rectangulaire à angles abattus orné d'une frise en bas relief d'un amour jouant avec trois musiciennes. Pieds griffes sommés de feuillages. Mouvement à fil.
