This is a fantastic jewelry item from the ancient Parthian peoples of what is now Iran. The piece is hammered and articulated in repousse technique from sheet gold of high karat value, probably 22K+. The design is that of a sunburst. Nicely executed.
The piece measures 16.7 mm in diameter, and it's intact with it's original gold suspension loop. Could be re-mounted and safely worn on your favorite necklace today!
This piece dates to the ancient Parthian peoples, circa 240 BC - 226 AD. A wonderful piece with rich, historical significance.
Provenance provided to purchaser.
