Very Fine, Pre-Columbian Moche Spondylus Shell Necklace
This is a very nice necklace. Re-composed using ancient Peruvian, Moche beads made of Spondylus shell. Each bead was hand-carved in ancient times, circa 300 AD. The central bead is clay and was made by a Moche jeweller to resemble the tooth of a large cat, when worn, symbolized great power for the wearer.

The necklace measures 16" in length, and is strung on nylon-coated, stainless steel Flex-cord for safety and conservation.

The clasp is silver.

A fine piece of WEARABLE jewelry with great historical significance.

Provenance of beads provided to purchaser.
