Ancient Egyptian Amarna Limestone Fragment - Akhenaten
This is a fantastic piece. This limestone frieze fragment was carved during the reign of Egypt's most notorious king - Akhenaten, or Amenhotep IV, circa 1353 - 1336 BC.

The cartouche retains it's original blue and red pigments, as seen. The colours are vibrant!

The cartouche reading 3h-n-Itn, which, literally says Akhen-Aten. Reference for this cartouche can be found on pg 142-143 of Jurgen von Beckerath's Handbuch der Agyptischen Konigsnamen, #10, E4.

The piece measures 4" tall, 3.75" wide and 1.25" thick.

A fantastically rare and collectible piece.

Provenance provided to purchaser.
