This is a really fine, ancient Egyptian faience counterpoise amulet. The obverse depicting the goddess Sekhmet in profile, surmounting a wedjat, most of which is broken away and lost to antiquity. Does not really detract from this fine piece. Measures 44 mm tall. Suspension loop on reverse intact. Dates to the Late Period in Egyptian history, circa 664 - 332 BCE. Provenance provided to purchaser. |
