Ancient Egyptian Bronze Osiris Figure - Late Period
This piece dates to Egypt's XXVIth Dynasty, circa 664-525 BCE.

This is a bronze statue depicting the God of the Underworld, Osiris. Mounted to a small plinth. Height (including mount): 55 mm. Condition: Feet missing to antiquity. Otherwise nice. A nice piece made in solid casting. This is not a hollow casting.

A peculiar aspect of the Bronze Osiris figures is the way each one can be identified in terms of it's region of manufacture - if hands are placed one above the other, the piece was made in the north, Lower Egypt. If the hands are positioned together at the fists, as seen here, then the piece was made in Middle Egypt. If the piece was made in Upper Egypt, from Abydos to Aswan, then the hands will be depicted crossed on the chest.

Provenance of this piece provided to purchaser.
