A Very Good Pair of Indian Miniatures
From our Indian Subcontinent Collection, a very good pair of contemporary Indian miniature paintings of caparisoned elephants, executed in a palette that contrasts rich red with a lavish use of gilt, along with grey, white, and black. Often painted with single-haired sable brushes or their equivalent, some of the details here are so fine they are difficult to appreciate without a jeweler's loop. Even our 6x magnification camera lens does not fully capture all the detail, we can only see it all with a 10x jeweler's loop. Obviously this pair had to have been painted with aid of magnification during the painting process, as there is simply too much detail that cannot be seen by the naked eye. A small but very elegant and technically masterful pair for the Indian miniature aficionado.

Size and Condition: Framed dimensions are 9 1/2 inches wide x 5 3/4 inches tall, image dimensions are each 3 inches wide x 2 1/4 inches tall. Perfect condition.
