| Potter Studio desk set, brass, all with round bezel-set floral pewter decorations, five (5) pieces, consisting of large pad with rectangular brass edges, pair (2) of bookends, letter opener, and letter holder. Pad has brass ends with chased line around edge and pewter decorations at top. Bookends are pointed, with tapering feet and chased lines around edge. Letter opener is pointed, with large squared-off round end. Letter holder has three partitions and chased line around outside. Original patina on all pieces except letter holder. Letter holder is heavier, with different hammering and quality of workmanship, and may not be original to set. Pad ends each: 15-1/16" H and 2-1/4" W. Bookends: 4" H and 3" W and 5" L. Letter opener: 8-1/16 L and 1-11/16" W. Letter holder: 6" W and 4-9/16" H and 2-3/4" D. Bookends each marked: POTTER / STUDIO. Letter opener: POTTER / STUDIO. [Other pieces unmarked]. Potter Studio was founded by Horace Potter in Cleveland, and produced excellent jewelry and household items. The Potter Studio mark dates this set to the 1915-1924 period. | ||
