| Rare Kensington Art Ware gold-plated pin with oval Ruskin cabochon and safety chain. Central pottery plaques or "enamels" like this were originally created by The Ruskin Pottery, named for Arts & Crafts pioneer John Ruskin, as substitutes for precious and semi-precious stones. The colors and glazes quickly became popular, and several English companies including Liberty, Moorcroft, Minton, and Kensington produced jewelry incorporating them. Kensington Art Ware pieces are among the scarcest and hardest to find. This piece is exceptionally rare, with its gold-plated frame and intact safety chain. The Ruskin stone in this pin is a lovely golden orange, with fine crazing. A wonderful piece. 2-1/2" W and 1-5/16" H, with 3-5/8" chain. | ||
