This wonderful jar was made during the earlier part of the Han dynasty (206 BC-220 AD). Its amazing greenish blue color comes from a lead based ash glaze, common for burial potteries in the Northern region of the Han Empire. Time has given the jar a fantastic nacreous patina, and while it bears the visible signs of its age (see pictures), it remains a well preserved and mesmerizing artifact.
