Taiki Matsunaga was born in 1955 in Nagoya, Japan. Nagoya is located in the prefecture of Aichi, home of the Seto ceramics. After having studied ceramics in high school, Taiki furthered his studies at a ceramic school in the city of Seto, and in 1985 opened his own atelier in the city of Tajimi, birth place of Mino ceramics.
