Here is a vintage chaire (tea caddy), a container for matcha, a powdered green tea used during the Japanese tea ceremony. The classic looking vessel comes with its shifuku (pouch), an essential protection, as well as its tomobako (companion box). The lid is made of ivory, and its bottom is covered with a golden leaf. The richness of the chaire’s apparel and its sophistication as an essential tool of the tea ceremony make those small jars wonderful items to collect.
The chaire probably dates from the first part of the 20th century. It is in perfect condition. Dimensions: 6 x 7.5 cm (2.4 x 3 in); weight 90g (3.2 oz)
The listed price includes EMS shipping.
