Kuro Oribe Chawan by Nakajima Shunso

This beautiful kuro oribe chawan (black oribe tea bowl) was made by a productive potter from Aichi prefecture named Nakajima Shunso.

Oribe ware became popular around the end of the 16th century, influenced by tea master and samurai Furuta Shigenari (Furuta Oribe) (1544-1615). Although there are variations, it is usually recognizable by its green glaze.

Kindly inquire if you have some questions.

The chawan is signed, in perfect condition and comes in a signed box. Dimensions: 12.5 x 9 cm (5 x 3.6 in), Weight: 375g (13 oz)
