Hagi Guinomi by Yamato Yuji

The name Yamato has been associated with Hagi pottery since the end of the 19th century. This particular guinomi, (sake cup) was made by Yamato Yuji, born in 1946. The silky glaze, which veils the coarse clay, gives the cup, a perfect miniature chawan, its enchanting appeal. This characteristic dualism has contributed to make Hagi ware one of the most sought after ceramic for the tea ceremony. Yamato Yuji, who is a member of the Japan Traditional Art Crafts Association, is a recognized ambassador of that more than four hundred year old tradition. The guinomi is signed and in perfect condition. It will be shipped in a signed wooden box. Dimensions: 6 x 5 cm (2.4 x 2 in); weight 80g (2.8 oz) More pictures available on demand Please make sure you read my Sales Policy Page and kindly inquire if you have any question. Some of the pieces presented in this catalog may be acquired through an interest free payment plan.
