An impressive and beautiful jardiniere of heavy porcelain decorated in famille rose enamels with butterflies, peonies and other flowers. Marked ‘Kangxi,’ but from the first half of the 19th century, most probably from the Daoguang period (1821–1850). H 23 cm, D 26 cm. Condition: Very good with only minor wear to enamel.

A brush holder of finely, carved ivory depicting three, youthful immortals (Sennin) playing in a garden setting w. a large pine tree and a well. The scene has been carved in deep relief with numerous fine details. Fitted stand of hardwood. Japan, Meiji, ca. 1880. H. 18 cm, W. 7 cm at base and 6,5 cm at top. (H. 20.5 cm with stand). Condition: Excellent, no breaks or losses.

A very elegant Chinese export coffee pot made of sterling silver, decorated with large bamboo stems, leaves and shoot. The handle has 2 ivory rings. An exquisite silver work made by the Shanghai silversmith master Luen Wo, who was active between the second half of the 19th cent. and the beginning of the 20th cent. He is known for the high quality of his silverwork. Stamped ”LW” and two Chinese characters; circa 1900. Veight 694 gr. H. 23 cm. Perfect condition.

Large wood image from a village temple dedicated to the deified Monkey King (Sunwu Kong), the hero of the famous Buddhist novel “Journey to the West” (Xiyou ji) from the late Ming. The image of the Monkey King is shown as a heavenly dignitary in official robes. An elegant and fine ink-stone (Shezhou, Anhui) made of carved, dark schist with minor, green-brown inclusions. One “eye.” Two small feet at top end. Fitted and finely carved lid of chicken wing wood (jichimu). The inscription reads: “A treasure from the Zhishi shanfang.” In a Japanese box from the 19th century (with full inscription). China: Qing, probably 18th cent. L 16,5 cm, W 11 cm. Condition: Excellent (just a very small chip in ink-well due to use). - NO PAYPAL ACCEPTED.

A small but attractive image of a small, flute-playing boy riding on the back of a water buffalo made of bronze w. a dark, brown lacquered patina. The depicted theme has been taken from the series of Ox-herding Pictures, a popular didactic account of the adept’s progress towards enlightenment according to Chan (Zen) Buddhism. Qing, first half of 19th century. H 13.5 cm, L 13 cm. Condition: Very good w. slight rubbing due to handling. The flute, which was cast separately is missing.

A rare, small bronze image of the ‘crazy’ Buddhist saint Qigong who lived in Hangzhou during the Southern Song (1127–1276). He wears flowing garbs and the characteristic pointed cap. He holds his main attribute, the plantain fan in his left hand and the other on the back. China, Qing, 18th-19th cent. H 11 cm. Condition: Very good w. minimal traces of wear.

A small but very interesting water container (shuiyin) of a natural, hollowed out piece of root wood (yingzimu) for the scholar’s table. The piece has a deep patina and fascinating shape. A small spoon for water in gilt bronze (?) accompanies the piece. China, Qing, 18th cent. H 4,5 cm, L 6 cm. Condition: Perfect. Wonderful wear all-over. ( NO Paypal payment is accepted )
