A large “birds & flowers” painting, ink and coulours on silk. from the motif, this painting was to be used for the occasion of a wedding, which is evident from the eight pair of different birds such as phoenix, symbolizing lifelong matrimonial harmony. The silk used has been woven with “double happiness/ shuangxi” characters. Various seals and inscribed in two lines. Attributed to Jiang Tingxi (1669-1732 from Changshu, Jiangsu province), pen name Nansha.

A very finely engraved and inscribed ivory arm rest (bige). The upper part, a long text engraved in miniature characters; it is taken from the book of ”Famous Wemen´s Biographies” (Lie Nu Zhuan), a Eastern Han Dinasty book about the virtue of women. It tells the life of Pang Degong and his wife which were living a happy life in the wild nature in the mountains collecting medicinal plants and herbs.
