A small figure carved in a red-beige soapstone (shoushanshi) depicting a lion-monster with its head turned backwards and open mouth. In the bottom of the flat base are two holes which indicates that the piece was used as a toggle. H 3.2 cm. L. 2,5 cm. Qing, 18th cent. or older. Condition: Excellent. Natural wear due to use.
A very fine and attractive toggle (similar to a Japanese manju) made of finely worked agate in ovoid form. Flat on both sides. Inside with ‘shadow’ of yellowish color. China, Qing ca. 1800. D 4.5 cm, H 1.8 cm. Condition: Excellent. Fine smooth wear all-over.
