An attractive and large, heavy thrown, deep dish of traditional Seto ware. Six burning spurs in the center, and crackled glaze all-over. Japan, late Edo, c. 1800. D 32 cm, H 4.5 cm. Condition: Generally good w. wear and signs of use. Old chip to outer part of the foot rim. Fire crack (non-penetrating).

A charming, well-painted Zenga in monochrome ink depicting Hotei leaning on his bag. No signature, but a large, unidentified artist’s seal. H 29 cm, W 38.5cm (picture frame). Japan, 17th–18th cent. Entire kakemono L 108 cm. Condition: Quite good. Some, but relatively minor, soiling to painting. Inner frame textile excellent. Outer frame with some wear, running thin in places.

A large-scale sketch in ink and pencil for an erotic painting depicting a couple in sexual congress inside a room with sliding doors and a flower vase in the background. Painted in traditional ukiyo-e style with writing in small characters and letters indicating technique to be used. Artist unknown. Japan, late Meiji to early Taisho, around 1910–15. H 45 cm, W 50 cm. Condition: Very good.
