A highly attractive and rare item for the scholar’s table in the form of a miniature table made of lacquer inserted into a delicately worked silver frame (with silver mark = pure silver ). Decorated with a peach branch on the surface in raised and coloured lacquer on a brownish makie-e ground. Late Edo–early Meiji, 19. cent. L. 15 cm, D. 8 cm, H 3,5 cm. Condition: Over-all very good, with the exception of 2 minute chips in one corner (see pics 10).

A fine lacquer ”kogo” - incense box. The lid is decorated with a humourous, playful ”shishi” - lion biting into a bowl; a red ribbon around it. The shishi is rendered in low relief golden lacquer with the eyes, thungs and claws inlaid in mother of pearl on a background of black and nashiji lacquer. Signed Wajima Genpo saku. Inscribed kiri-tomobako: Shishi makie kogo Wajima nuri. Diameter: 8,5 cm. Meiji. Condition: perfect.

A fine, three-part cylindrical box of black lacquer decorated with “ mon ” set among a pattern of other mon in flat, two colored gold lacquer. Inside with nashiji. The bottom compartment with a silver insert. Unsigned. Late Edo to early Meiji, 19th cent. H 7.5 cm, D 5.2 cm. Condition: quite good all-over, some wear to gold, a small chip on the inside of the lid and one to bottom (see last 2 photos).

A fine, lobed lacquer tray, decorated with stylized landscape in takamaki-e, ashide in silver and shibuichi on nashiji ground. Original inscribed kiri tomobako. Late Edo period, c. 1850. 20 cm by 18,5 cm. Condition: very good with just very minor wear.

A NEGORO lacquer flower vase made in the shape of archaic bronze with 2 lateral handle. Negoro lacquer is created by applying red on black lacquer and than rubbing it off in a way to create a special effect. Not signed. It comes with a box. H. 24,5 cm. Edo Period. Condition: Very good.
