An attractive and very sophisticated tea bowl (chawan) made of modern Shino stoneware by ceramic maker Tanaka Akihiko (b. 1954) from Gifu. The bowl is shaped w. a deep, cylindrical well on a low foot. The piece is covered in a thick, white-bluish ash glaze over a stylized decoration in iron resulting in a beautiful finish and an interesting texture.
