A highly interesting vase of earthenware in modified meiping form partly covered in high carbon ashes. Signed Terada Teppei (b. 1975), son of Terada Yasuo 4th generation of the Bizan Kiln in Seto, Aichi. Although Teppei masters the old Seto and Oribe techniques, he is an innovator and well-known for his experimental styles including the use of non-glazed firing of his pieces, often together with the application of a special carbon technique. A beautiful drop-shaped vase w. a small irregular mouth made of a light type of fajance. The body is covered in a delicately mottled and beautifully toned glaze that ranges from a light greyish green over a pale green to a deep sap green in slanted, left-turning bands.
