Three large album leaves painted by the established Sichuanese painter Tang Rongxin (b. 1939) done during the late Cultural Revolution around 1975–77: 1) Portrait of young soldier, 2) Autumn trees, 3) Girls w. boats. Peoples Republic, mid to late 1970s. Measurements between H 45 cm, L 33 cm and H 33 cm, 44 L cm. (picture frame). Condition: Overall very good.

A pair of modern raku, tea bowls ‘Sun and Moon’ types the first with gold on the interior, the other with silver. Made by Shoraku, 3rd generation from Kyoto. Impressed raku seal mark. Inscribed and sealed kiri-box with papers. Late Showa, ca. 1980. Moon, diam:17 cm. Sun, diam: 14 cm. Condition: Very fine with minimal wear to inner surfaces due to use.

A very unusual but highly attractive bottle-shaped vase made of Oribe ware with a deep, bluish-green, partially covering glaze. It has a heavy, cylindrical body with deeply carved, parallel groove and a thin neck with a narrow mouth. Small artist’s seal impressed on bottom rim (we have been unable to decipher it, see last 2 photos) . A superbly designed piece. Showa, ca. 1950. H 22.5 cm. Condition: Perfect.

A small, but finely cast bronze sculpture of an elephant covered in a uniform dark brown patination. The ears in a lighter brown color. Inserted tusks of ivory. Signed on the front, left foot: Seiya. Meiji, ca. 1880–90. H 8 cm, L 13 cm. Condition: Excellent.

A small, rounded incense box (kogo) of “silver 900” also called “white silver”. The piece is decorated all-over with chrysanthemum. Made by Ryuun. The inside and bottom surface has a dull finish. A large, heavy-thrown vase of Shigaraki ware in the characteristic raw-fired and brow mottled chamotte clay. It has been covered w. splashes of running whitish glaze running dark-grey w. drops and encrusted cinders to finish it off. On one side the lip and shoulder have been compressed to leave a rustic and highly attractive impression for the viewer.
