A well-sculpted image of the spirit of the pine tree, Jo, made of Bizen ware. Jo is holding a broom, his attribute, and scouting in the distance w. one hand shadowing his eyes. Of a uniform iron-brown glaze meant to emmulate patinated bronze. Unsigned. Probably late Meiji, around 1900. H 22,5 cm. Condition: Perfect.

A slightly compressed vase in Shikaragi-ware of cylindrical shape w. a stylized incised bamboo-leaf shape on the front. The upper part w. a light, green-coloured glaze attractively “running in tears.” On the back-side a loop for hanging on the wall. Signed w. 2 parallell lines in the bottom. Late Edo to early Meiji. H 16.5 cm. Condition: Excellent.
