| An attractive and very sophisticated tea bowl (chawan) made of modern Shino stoneware by ceramic maker Tanaka Akihiko (b. 1954) from Gifu. The bowl is shaped w. a deep, cylindrical well on a low foot. The piece is covered in a thick, white-bluish ash glaze over a stylized decoration in iron resulting in a beautiful finish and an interesting texture. Signed w. artists’ seal “Gen” in the bottom (see photo). Original, signed kiri-box including paper documentation. Made ca. 1985. H 9 cm, D 11 cm. Condition: Perfect. | ||||||||||||
